Multiple Approval Levels

We are wanting to add multiple approval levels to our Requisition Approval flow. Each approval level will have different dollar amounts. What is the easiest way to accomplish this?

Even if the consultant setup the job/flow/work, you would still need to know how it works (and support it).

If it's a simple flow like ours it's a matter of copying the UA and branch nodes and inserting them within the flow as many times as you need more approval levels and reconnect the nodes as needed. Then you need to create a variable for each new level. Use the variable for your original approval level as a template.

Depending how you read your information and/or if you don't mind having a large flow, one simple method is to read the appropriate field(s) and set variable(s). Set up branches to test the variable(s) against ranges. Then perform your desired or required checks before passing on to appropriate role for approval.

There are many solutions to this type of problem. We have a similar Situation. Over $50,000 requires Director level approval. Over $2500 requires buyer.

In Version 9 and 10 you'll add up each lines (Quantity * UnitAmount) to get a Total Requisition amount. You'll then need your Levels Setup on PfiUserTask in IPA.

On a branch node all branches are read in order from top to bottom. You can either use a single Branch to determine which level you're approving, or you can use multiples.

Does each level have to approve the flow until the highest level is reached or does it go directly to the highest level? For us each level must approve the requisition and then it moves to the next level, with a branch node in between checking the total requisition amount to see if it has to continue to the next approver.

If someone knows the limit is (say) $50,000 to get Directory level approval, how do you detect and manage a purchase on "installment plan" of (say) $25,000 for 4 months. Most elementary checks would see it as 4 simple one time purchases.

Or for example take (factious) gold plated fiber cable, where you're charged $100 per foot but it's sold by the spool (of 2000). Do you order it by the foot to get around the $50,000 spending limit?

There's always a way to go around approvals. We've found some requesters enter $.01 for some X item and when the buyer places the order and gets a confirmation on price it should have gone to at least one level for approval. The key is putting the right people in charge of ordering and budgeting. If you find they abuse the system then maybe they're not the right person for the job.
