We're looking at our inventory practices with regard to our Surgery department. Right now, it is a non-stock location that is being replenished using Par and Cycle counting. However, in talking through this, we've found that the coordinator adjusts the count entered based on if she knows there will be additional needs of a product due to upcoming procedures. In our work, we're talking about moving this location to being an inventory location with most of these items in a perpetual inventory. One question that came up is whether we can send a future demand to Lawson so that it does the adjustment up in inventory automatically.
I.e. we have an item set as a fixed order point of 5 since we typically only use a few per day and we get them from the vendor with quick turnaround. However, based on our schedule of surgeries, we know we will need 8 next Tuesday.
Does anyone know of a way to put a future demand into Lawson for this so that it orders higher? Or do you just do a manual PO based on what you know is going to be used? Just looking to see how others do it to see find the most efficient way of doing it.
