Hello! We are starting to set up our first accrual type sick plan in LP. The employee will accrue sick time based on the amount of hours worked. We use the same group of pay codes for all employees, regardless of their facility, union, salary class, etc. For example, pay code ABC is used for regular hours for everyone.
I am studying the LP user guide in order to set up the new plan. My understanding is that I need to create a service class with service codes that represent all the pay codes for sick time eligible hours. The LP guide states the following about the relationship between pay codes, service codes, and service classes:
"If you use Infor Payroll, you define service codes to indicate when an employee time record in Payroll should be used for calculating absence plan records. To achieve this, you attach the service code to a pay code, and service records are created during time entry. The service code will have a one-to-one relationship with a pay code and is entered on Pay Code (PR20.4).
Important: Typically a service code should be tied to only one service class. In addition, each service class should only be used on one plan or plan structure so that an employee who records time under that service code will only have one master record balance decremented."
My understanding of what the guide is stating above is that only one pay code should be assigned to a single service code, which should be assigned to only one service class, which should be assigned to only one plan/structure. If all of our employees use the same pay codes, how can I set up different plans or plan structures (i.e. to meet various different facility/union/state mandated requirements) if I can only use each pay code in one plan/structure? Any insight you can offer would be greatly appreciated - thank you!
