1095C Summary Page

For the last two years, we were able to electronically upload the 1095-C files to the IRS connection. However, we didn't realize that there should be a Summary File as well which we think is the 1094C form. When we run the BN299 job, there is a 1094rep file that looks similar to the form. Is this the file that needs to be submitted? This file includes the Employer information but is missing the counts for line 23. Do we enter the counts on the BN27.1 form on Topic R1?

I am not sure how you uploaded before or what summary page you are referencing. I looked at my notes, we don't have to populate counts on R1 because we have a 98% offer method.

From the Bn299, the report creates two xml files on your server that you need to upload to the IRS - a manifest and the detail xml. You can see the names in the xmlreport output of BN299. Those are the files you need to upload.

Hi Margie,

We received a penalty for the 1st year 2015 because we didn't send a 1094C file. We uploaded two files per company which were good but now the IRS is coming back stating that we didn't submit the 1094C Summary file.

Thanks Margie. That is exactly what we sent but now are asking for the 1094C file too. I uploaded the form for a reference.

I'm really confused...what is it the IRS is asking you for? We've only uploaded the 2 files you have (manifest & detail). Does it have anything to do with your offer method?

We submitted only the two xml files, Manifest and Detail. The 1094C "summary" file is part of the Detail file. The requirements for summary info depend on which options you select for Line 22. We indicated the 98% offer method and filled in the BN27.1 as follows:

R1 - self-insured, authoritative transmittal, 98% method

R5 - 12M MEC, 12M Total Count
