Mingle/SharePoint

Our Mingle/SharePoint server is just useless overhead to us as we use none of it's functionality. And now we have issues with Windows updates to patch security vulnerabilities on that server which will require a reboot and an outage. Was just wondering if any other Lawson clients have bypassed Mingle and published a URL that goes directly to Lawson Portal. My understanding is that the only reason not to do that is because Lawson won't support that configuration. I'm wondering what response I'd get from Lawson support if I asked this there.

We don't use Mingle also. We publish a link directly to Portal. We may use Mingle in the future, but haven't had time to look into it. We have had no problems with Infor providing support when we needed it.

We go directly to portal and bypass Mingle. When we have issues that need to be reported, we verify that the issue also exists when going through Mingle. So far we haven't found an issue where it works in Mingle and not the portal.

We use MingLe as our login URL, we have not had any issues with Windows patches so far. But since it is Windows server, we have been able to schedule these patches off hours & reboot of the server is pretty quick.

Thanks for the reply. We have a very large Windows patch pending which is failing and preventing the normal patch/reboot process from occurring on it's regular schedule. Someone is going to have to apply it and reboot manually during off hours.

We don't have any other products on the Mingle ribbon so we bypass and just use portal too; it's been supported fine so far.

We have a link for Ming.le and one direct to Portal. Most use Portal. If users want the "Req to Check" functionality, they use Ming.le. Our OnBase screen-scraping does not function with Ming.le, so that's another reason to bypass Ming.le. Next upgrade includes Ming.le, but takes Share Point out of the equation. Has anyone moved to that version yet and have you seen an improvement?

Read your contract carefully. You may be obligated to install, but not necessarily required/obligated to use (as many have demonstrated here), I'm not a lawyer, so consult your's -- YMMV.

If there are support issues, you may need to verify/duplicate the issue through Ming.le before you will obtain support.
