IC525 and IC527

I am just starting to explore a new way of creating a file of our item master to interface with Epic. We currently have a custom program that was built in 2010 and it is very difficult to manage in LID. Would someone please help me to understand how IC525 and IC527 work and how to build them? We are going to be adding POU and Department Inventory soon via MSCM and I am told that these jobs are necessary.

Hello, I used IC527 with customizations (changed fields to be used as triggers) in the past, but with my current company, we opted for IC524. This creates a csv output that is translated in Cloverleaf and then input in Epic OpTime.

IC524 has been updated to use with Epic and Cerner. You will need to convert the CSV to HL7. Cloverleaf and the Clinical Bridge are a great tools for that.

IC524, 525 and 527 all export your inventory information. The initial run creates a "full file" and subsequent runs look for changes/movement in the inventory and send only new/changed items.

Generally speaking, Epic will not alter the files inbound, you'll need to have Cloverleaf/Clinical Bridge or some such take the output and make it match the Epic requirements. Our ORs don't use Lawson inventory so it was easier to create a custom SQL. You'll have to take a look at the outputs and choose which one works best.
