You can but we actively prevent it here:
WHY YOU DO NOT TRACK MORE THAN ONE UOM
SCENARIO: An item exists with 2 tracking UOMs: EA/1, BX/25 - Stock UOM is EA
PO is created for Central at a BX, as that is the only valid Buy UOM. PO is received as 1 BX. On the IC12, the Transaction Default UOM states EA. Lawson shows the Stock On Hand as 25 EA because the IC12 says to show and transact at EA. Central attempts to issue out 5 EA and receives the error, “Insufficient SOH for UOM”.
This is because the IC11 tells the system to track BX by BX and EA by EA. By receiving the BX, you have in effect told Lawson to never open the BX. Even if you issue 25 EA (equal to a BX) you will receive the error Insufficient SOH for UOM” because the UOM for those items is BX. It will allow the issue of 1 BX but not 25 EA.
The scenario causes complex problems in the centrals because adjustments and physical inventory are conducted by the EA. The item has incoming stock as both EA and BX and is tracking both. So some of the stock can be issued as EA but not all.
To fix, use IC26 to get SOH all the same UOM in the same place. Issue or adjust all SOH out. Once all the current stock in ALL locations is issued or adjusted out, the IC11 will allow you to take the tracking flag off the UOM.
