Fax Integrator Subject Line

Has anyone been able to add text to the subject line on emails sent through fax integrator?

We have a requirement to send emails as encrypted if they contain any patient information. Currently we have software that does this on external emails if [secure] is in the subject line. The issue with fax integrator is we don't have any control on the contents of the subject line. So we are emailing the POs to the buyers and then they forward with [secure] in the subject line. Not optimal at all.

I believe our system is configured to exempt email encryption if it comes from the specific email and IP address of the Fax Integrator.

We haven't run across this yet, but I don't believe the subject line is configurable. However, there may be two ways you could do this depending on your needs.

1. Create a PO Code for purchase orders that should be encrypted and add that to the encryption filter

2. Run PO120 separately for purchase orders that need to be encrypted, send them to a different directory than the default /email/out and then set that one up to use a standard email sender address that always encrypts

Just some thoughts on what you may be able to do.

Thanks everyone. I put in an enhancement request to allow some form of edit to the subject line through fax integrator. We couldn't force encryption from an IP because we were using a relay server and it wasn't passed. We couldn't use PO Code because we use them for so many other things and it wouldn't be applicable for just about everyone of them. We couldn't do PO120 because we are using the buyer as the sender email address. So the buyers are keying in their own email address and then forwarding after adding secure to the subject line. Not ideal at all, but it's a work around. Hopefully we can get a subject line edit added to fax integrator. They have message body edits, but not subject line edits and that's what DLP drives off of.

FAX is efficient and simple to setup and use, but is considered by some to be a dead technology.

Unfortunately, I would be surprised if Info decides to open code development for FaxIntegrator. There have been several enhancements request, but all have been ignored. If it's not a bug fix it appears to have gone to the bit bucket.

One request that we made was to use SFTP rather than FTP to transfer files from LSF to the Fax Integrator server. This request shouldn't be a big odeal, add a new SFTP protocol module and a couple of screen prompts/option boxes. So far the request has been ignored. (This is the 21st Century, security is everyone's business).

I agree on all accounts. Just a few more tweaks and fax integrator wouldn't be that bad.
