Security Setup
dscheppa
Does anyone have a Security Template spreadsheet created that they would be willing to share? I'm starting to revamp Security and hope to go from 125 Security Classes and Roles to ?? Any help or ideas to alleviate hours of rework will be appreciated.

Though we have a number of classes, we do have a simple format. Four basic classes with three basic roles. The classes and roles apply to each S3 module, such as AP, AR, GL, HR, PA, PR, etc. Each module has an Inquiry, Setup, Process and Super class and an inquiry, clerk and manager role.
The Inquiry class accessess non-update inquiry and report applications. The Setup class accesses basic maintenance, code and other setup applications. The Process class accesses applications which update and process daily or periodic work. While the Super class is reserved for the purge, archive and interface applications.
With this structure, we can allow an IT Manager to view his purchases by assigning the POInquiry role to this person.

Another route to follow, would be as we did, which was to create an additional Attribute called CompanyLimited. By Company then we allocate either CompanyControl Security Class (full access) or CompanyLimited Security Class (Inquiry only) to each Role.
