Infor ION - connecting and pushing/pulling documents

Hi Folks,

I am new to the Infor ION world. I am wanting to try and setup a process by which an Infor CloudSuite Distribution application (setup for my client) integrates with a Liaison ECS server(setup by us) by passing files between them. Specifically, I am interested in the exchange of information on SalesOrders, Invoices and Shipments for B2B purposes. I did like the CloudSuite Distribution application to be able to pull "SalesOrder" data in the form of BOD files from this external server. Similarly, the CloudSuite Distribution application should be able to push "Invoices" and "Shipments" data in the form of BOD files to this external server.

I can see that I can establish FTP connectivity in the form on "Connection Points" on the ION Desk. But that is the only thing I could get to. I would like to learn about the following.

1. How do I schedule a process such that it establishes the FTP connection and pulls files waiting there? How do I then change direction such that I push some files into it?

2. How do I post these files inward? In other words, how do I import these BODs into actual documents inside of the CloudSuite Distribution application?

3. How do I extract documents and create BODs out of it? How do I store these on specific folders and use these to be pushed out to the server?

4. I could not find much documentation regarding ION Desk on the Infor CloudSuite. Is there any other place where I can find it?

5. The FTP connectivity to establish communication with the external server is not mandatory. The external server can also communicate through HTTP Posts. Is there a different way to achieve this functionality using HTTP rather than FTP?

I would appreciate any/all pointers.

Hi Lakki,

There are two ways of achieving your hybrid use case.

A. By establishing connection between CSD and your network using the Enterprise Connector (EC). You can read all about EC in the ION desk user guide. Once you have installed EC locally, you can create a File connection point that liaisons with the EC. EC is capable of delivering files to your folder as well as capable of picking the files that you drop in your folders. So EC is effectively exchanging messages between CSD and your local folder over Amazon cloud.

B. If your folders can be set up in a SFTP file share and can be exposed directly to the internet, you can let ION in the cloud directly interface with your SFTP share.

All your other questions are standard configuration of a file connection based document flows. i.e., once you setup a File connection point, ION can do bi-directional message exchange with your share. Please refer the Technology Connector Admin guide for all the details.

Hi Vignesh,

Thank you for the quick response. I did think we will proceed with the option of using SFTP to send/receive BODs from CloudSuite Distribution. I have been able to create an SFTP connection point and tested it when I created it. I have also been able to define the documents that would be sent through this connection point.

Now all my document workflow has are three objects - start, file1 and stop where file1 is using the file connection point I had defined earlier. Do you think I would need anything else for ION to send files to an external FTP folder?

Hi Lakki,

Sounds like you got the foundation down. All you need to do now is test your document flow. You can check the SFTP folders to see if the file was successfully moved or if it was moved to your define "Error" folder. You can further troubleshoot with ION's OneView application and trace the history of the data movement.

Regarding some of your other questions, it sounds like you had some trouble finding documentation. In Xtreme, click on the "Search" navigation button and hit "Documentation." You'll see all of your available documentation but navigate down to "ION" and you can find more docs describing ION Desk, development, technology connectors, and so forth.
