We recently switched from doing a percentage of a minimum by grade for shift differential to a flat rate differential by job code for shift differential. When we had the percentage by grade when a change was made to that grade we would create a new effective date for that grade with the changes to keep history and then be able to do corrections. Now changing to one master table for all job codes with one master effective date, there seems to be no way to save history when changes are made to the flat rate for that job code.
Does anyone else use one master table with one master effective date for keeping shift differential history? We have a lot of job codes and HR doesn't want to have to add a new table each time with a new effective date to capture the changes. Just trying to see what others are doing?
