Our organization just started rolling out Java 8u171 to our devices. Our HR personnel use the Desktop Rich Client. Those desktop icons "broke" because the target was pointing to the previous version of Java. Typically, these rich client users would reload the application using a URL and the new icon would get linked to the new version of Java. However, with Update 171, the install would not work. We narrowed it down to the 3DES cypher being disabled in the Java 171 update.
For the users that alert us, we manually change their desktop icon to use the new version of Java and all is OK. However, I have some users that delete the icon and it's no-where to be found (not in their recycle bin or appdatalrc folder to be restored). From there, the only option that user has is to get rolled back a version of java to be able to re-install the rich client.

Has anyone else run into this issue? Were you able to get around it? What options do I have?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!
