Data Dictionary

We are starting a BI Project and I'm looking for documentation (Data Dictionary) showing the Lawson V10 table layout. Does anybody know where on the support site I can find that?

Hi there! Something we found incredibly useful when we had a similar project recently was the use of the dbdoc Lawson command. For example, "dbdoc prod hr > hrdbdoc" will get all the HR table information to a file named hrdbdoc. That file shows all tables, fields, indexes, relations, etc.,. We ran this command for each of our system codes. Now as for Landmark, that's a different story. We've not found a similar command. Hope this helps. Lenny (lc@choa.org)

In the Xtreme knowledge base, search for documents called the "data file text" and "technical text." the data file text describes the columns in each table in a particular system code. Example search string: "data file text HR Windows." the technical text contains information about each Lawson batch program or screen in a particular system code and which tables it updates. Example search string: "technical text PA Windows."

Infor stopped doing the "data file text" after v9. Most of the v10 tables are very similar or unchanged so the v9 docs are still a good reference for v10. Xtreme support recommends the dbdoc mentioned above, which is not nearly a nice to use as the data file text.

You could always make your own data dictionary with a couple of free tools and a little bit of time.

You could use SchemaSpy which is a tool that has been very helpfull here. Generates html pages from the database. See my post from 4/5/2011 here www.lawsonguru.com/.../Default.aspx
