Item Images in RQC (V10)

ic11Hi Everyone - We are in the process of building a furniture catalog (template) for our facilities department. They've asked if we are able to add images to the items so people know what they are ordering. I remember hearing this was possible. Has anyone done this? How did you do it? Thanks in advance.

We did this. We created a shared folder for the images and named the image after the item. So the image for 1400-00120 is 1400-00120.jpg.

Our IT department moved the images to: http://[PRODSERVER]/lawson/images/items/ and wrote a script that linked them as attachments to the item. We did this because our initial load was over 50K items.

I'm guessing furniture would be a smaller list.

The hardest part is getting the image to the Lawson server or finding a network spot Lawson can reach without security issues. Once they are there, manually from IC11:

Inquire on Item
Right Click and go to Attachments - not Drill Around
Go to URL
Go to Item Image
Create a title and paste the URL in the "body" - where you would normally put a comment.
Click Add at the bottom.

Congrats! You now have an image visible in RQC.

I've also linked out to the image on the vendor's web site if available. The end user needs internet access for the image to be visible to them which anyone with RQC access has here. KB 1193408 has some information. Mostly what Kat has already provided.

Do you have a step-by-step detail on how you add the vendor's URL to an item master, that you would want to share?

Sure. I'll use bedside waste bags we get from Concordance as an example.

1. Inquire on an item you want to attach the link to in IC11.

2. Drill to find the vendor catalog number.

3. Go to the vendor's web site and search for that catalog number.

4. When the item comes up I look for a link to a larger image view.

5. Right click on that web page and select "view page source" (Chrome) or "view source" (IE).

6. This is the tricky part. You have to find the url that points to the image file location somewhere in the mess of html code. It's easier if you're familiar with HTML and web site design.

a. Find the url for "home".

b. Find the jpg image location. I'll run a find on ".jpg", several results may come up but one of them will be the actual location where they store the image.

c. Now I have the full url for the image (home + the image repository): https://b2b.concordancehealthcare.com/images/items/cyp9203.jpg

7. Add the url as an attachment in IC11.

8. Verify that the image is visible in RQC.

We request url links from our vendors. There is an upload spreadsheet you can download from InforXtreme to do mass uploads. We have loaded Cook Medical, Medline, and Covidien.

I didn't know you could upload attachments. Would be nice if Infor would share these things.

It is a self contained xlsm spreadsheet. I can send it to you if you want. It won't let me post. The one I have is for version 10.

We have the Self Contained Workbooks - they are amazing. You can open a ticket with Infor and request them. The com isn't allowing me to attach xlsm (Macro Excel Workbook). So attached is the How to find and download them.
