ESS Address changes

We are implementing address changes in ESS and have noticed that sometimes a change to the Employee home address updates the Employee supplemental address, but not always.  Has anyone else encountered this?  Is there a setting that controls when and if this change happens?  TIA.

If anyone had ever touched a field in the supplemental field, they will no longer sync up. Sometimes there is a legitimate reason why that occurred. To re-sync them, blank out all fields in the supplemental address column.
