EMSS Tax Withholding (State) Marital Status List Values

On EMSS state Tax Withholding, do you list all of the values provided OOTB (out of the box)? Or do you apply some type of customization so that only certain values that pertain to your particular state are displayed?

If you list all of the values, do you have some type of process/procedure to help you identify those people who selected values that do not apply to your state so you can contact them for the corrected value?

We customized the list

BSI will "catch" the incorrect value and change it to "single".

Here is an example: 1008 - YOUR REQUEST TO USE 5 MARITAL STATUS FOR THE MINNESOTA WITHHOLDING TAX IS NOT ALLOWED. THIS TAX HAS BEEN CALCULATED USING THE 1 MARITAL STATUS

What do you do you see these messages? Just view them in BSI? Or is there something else that your organization does? Do you notify the co-worker when this occurs? Do you update the PR13 to reflect 1 Marital Status?

One more thing, what the customizations do you do on the EMSS side? Would you be willing to share?

We just view them in BSI. We have employees in only two states so this is an easy review for us and so far there have not been any issues with it.

Would you mind sharing how you customized the EMSS side to only show certain marital statuses? Do you have to reapply the customization each time you update EMSS?
