Setup Accident and Critical Illness plans in Benefits

We will be offering Accident and Critical illness plans in our next annual enrollment periods. We are unsure what the appropriate benefit plan type for these types of plans should be. I am curious about how others may have set these plans up.

We will also begin offering these to some employees in 2019. Ours are employee paid, after-tax. Since the Accident plan premiums were set up as multiple options, and the illness plan had a rate table by age, I set them up as benefit plans. Ours are employee paid, after tax. I set them up under plan type DI.

We have had it set up for 3 years now. The critical illness plans are set up with rate tables and use the EL for the employee version and DL for the spouse and child. The accident was set up using the DL so that we could attach dependents as it was required for the vendor interface.
