HSA front loading

Hello. Does anyone allow HSA front loading? For example, and employee elects $3000 for the year, but wants to make six $500 contributions (6 * $500 = $3000) at the beginning of the year. On the seventh and subsequent cycles, no deductions are taken. If so, how do you set up the BN32 and/or the PR14? Thank you

Hi, on BN32 put 6 in the option field and then the 3000 in the annual amount. BN32 will fill in the pay period amount as 500, and *should* create a descending balance type deduction with 3000 in the balance and 500 in the deduction amount. Test this because we have had trouble with our descending balance deductions, but in theory this is how it should work.

Thank you, pbelsky. We are receiving an error when changing the BN32 Option to anything other than 26. The messages says "Cannot override cycles for a non-flex plan". We have the HSA plan set up as a DC plan.

We have had the HSA set up as an RS type plan at both employers where I worked on Lawson benefits. Is spinning up a new plan an option for you? If not, and you don't have too many people who want to front load, have you tried overriding their PR14 directly, by turning it into a descending balance type deduction with the deduction amount that the employee wants to do? See if Lawson will let you do that.
