Ming.le 12 & LSF10

We are currently putting together a plan to get the ADFS authentication change made to our environment (LSF 10.0.9, Apps 10.0.7, Ming.le 11, Landmark 11). One of the things that bothers me about the ADFS implementation with Ming.le 11 is the separate ADFS environment needed. We use ADFS in our enterprise so would prefer to use that and stay consistent.

In talking to consulting partners, we were told that Ming.le 12 will allow us to use our enterprise ADFS and as we're on current releases, shouldn't be painful to put in (plus it would eliminate Sharepoint!!).

Has anyone put in Ming.le 12 in their LSF10 environment? What has your experience been? And have you also taken the Portal 10.1.0 update?

This is the direction we are headed. We just put in Mingle 12 and portal 10.1 on our Test system. If you have the option between Ming.le v11 and Ming.le v12 in my understanding there are very compelling reasons to go with Ming.le v12 namely no sharepoint and somewhat better performance. The portal 10.1 user interface is an easy win as well since it enhances the user interface.

And of course I failed to mention one of the biggest benefits which is Ming.le v12 actually gives you the Infor/OS platform along with its related components and benefits.

Yes, Mingle 12 has less component collocation requirements. One of them is that you no longer need to have IFS installed on the same server that has ADFS runnning.

HOWEVER, there are still Lawson-related ADFS requirements that may make corporate ADFS unsuitable for all this. Note that while Mingle-12 supports ADFS 4.0, many S3/LM components do not. That means your corporate ADFS must be a specific version supported by them. Also in order to enforce proper timeouts in S3/LM products, you need to set global parameters of the ADFS instance to match Portal/Mingle/LM properly.

Bottom line - while there are indeed much less component collocation dependency with Mingle 12, S3/LM/Mingle still affect your ADFS setup and configuration. You can decide whether these requirements are "compatible" with other applications that use your corporate ADFS.

Note also that Mingle 12 is a pretty big step. The user interface is drastically different than Mingle 11. The server, while not using Sharepoint, will require much more hardware resources (the RAM will probably be easily doubled). So, both training and infrastructure requirements will need to be addressed.
