BSI 10 questions
s-fonley
Hello - we are testing BSI10.d and are having problems.....
we have several questions and we are hoping someone can help us out....
1) where is the 'Use Basic Local Reciprocity’? we went to General Configuration Option but do not find the reciprocity.
the doc mentions a return code 6 but we can't find it anywhere.
2) where are the quick formulas? we went to the Reporting Tools(where the doc points us to there) and they are not there.
3) is anyone on version 10.e.1 yet? if so, are any of these questions answered in that version?
any assistance will be greatly appreciated - thanks!

It is under General Configuration at the bottom. It is a No/Yes option. See attached.

thanks for your response!
nothing displays on our screen after the Audit Data Changes...
I'm wondering if we have a security issue because we are also not seeing any of the quick formulas that are suppose to be under Reporting Tools either

we went live with BSI10d last weekend, and found a few things as "show stopper." Reverted back to BSI9. installed/configured BSI10e1 per lawson recommended. Testing... Will update.....

wow - that is disheartening! thanks for your response.
we are applying 10.e.1 this morning, in test....
I hope yours goes well!

I'm surprised that BSI would be able to pull the support for verison 9 when there are so many people having (serious) problems with version 10. From the response times from BSI Support, they have to be hurting from all the new version support issues. Seems like a bad decision to drop support for 9.
And yes, I do realize it is difficult to "encourage" people to move to newer (and hopefully better, less buggy) version.
How do you encourage BSI to support 9, until 10.e.2 is out?

I totally agree with the comment about BSI pulling support for version 9. There is no way a company like ours who have people traveling to almost all 50 states on a weekly basis could consider going to a version that is so unstable and frankly inaccurate. We are doing yet another test today to see how changing the flag to basic reciprocity works. Hopefully that resolves most of the issues.

show stopper for BSI10d - Payroll taxes are not properly calculating for people living and working in certain tax jurisdictions after upgrading BSI from version 9 to 10d.
Testing BSI10e1 now - will update.....

We have version 10.d bulletin 38 and do not have the "'Use Basic Local Reciprocity". Is that part of the bulletin 39 and 10.e.1. We are getting ready to go live with 10.d this weekend knowing we have a few problems with the local reportable and taxable wage fields. I have been unable to get support from BSI on a resolution for this problem. I am curious TJ Mann did you see the tax problems in your testing environment for 10.d?
unknown
yes, and lawson said, 10e1 will fix them issues. we backed out bc we need to FULLY tested on 10e1. we have 10e1 on DEV, and seem to fix our issues.

FYI... the Lawson Year end letter for Payroll states that they recommend you be at the minimum level of BSI 10.0.e by 11/30/14 .. we just installed 10.d because 10.e didn't seem to be stable..now have to look at going to 10.e.1. Not liking all the problems being reported by everyone...

We are on BSI 10.0.d and not experiencing issues. Saw the 10.0.e1 is mandatory and we are fearful to do the cylical upgrade with all the issue we had doing the BSI 9 to 10.0.d upgrade. I contacted BSI Support to see what date we are required to be at 10.0.e1 and they said there was no expiration date. That makes me wonder if we should just ride it out on 10.0.d since it is working for us. Anyone else in this same boat?

We are on 10.0.d bulletin #39 with only Calif employees and it is working OK (with one known issue that won't be a show stopper until Jan - I think) Hoping they fix it before then,

We are on 10.0.d and Regulatory Bulletin #38. We have Colorado based employees; we think this version is working ok. We have some big concerns about the stability of any of the 10.0.x versions. After seeing the Infor Lawson 2014 HRM Year End bulletin which states: As of Nov 30, the minimum US BSI TaxFactory version recommended is 10.0.e we have decided to upgrade to 10.0.e.1 and Regulatory Bulletin #39. We are starting the upgrade in our TEST environment today.

We haven't had any issues with 10d so I am reluctant to upgrade. I am a little fearful about Jan1 tax tables once they are released. We don't have an abundance of staff waiting to load and retest.
Leslie,
Thanks for taking the plunge. Let us know how it goes for you.

We are on 10.0.e.1 with basic reciprocity set to YES. Reciprocity is still not working. Having major issues with most states including but not limited to MN, PA, KY, IN
Has anyone else found that changing the reciprocity to yes for basic fixed reciprocity for them?
unknown
The issues in TF10 stem from employee's who work and live in different states. BSI is saying that the resident state doesn't require that those wages be reported, so that is why you are seeing some states that have a tax, but not a taxable. BSI is researching these to determine the validity. Please contact them if that is what you're experiencing because TF10e.1 DOES NOT correct those issues.
What it DOES correct is the local resident taxes that have stopped, started, changed, etc. By selecting Yes in the basic reciprocity field within system configuration in BSI, you should see those revert back to what they were prior to TF10 was released.
If you are experiencing a problem with exempt taxes that are setup on PR13.1, that fix is supposed to be delivered in TF10e.2.

every time you upgrade to new cyclic, URL changes. i wish i can use same URL from 10 to 10.x.x
anyone finds a way to use same URL ? you can install into same DIR, but URL changes every time.

Thanks kathymc for your update. I have reported the same issues to Lawson and BSI. Lawson lead me to believe that 10.e.1 was going to fix our problems with having tax withheld and no taxable. BSI however has not responded to any of my 3 support emails in the past 2 weeks. We just went live with BSI10d bulletin 38 this morning and will start payroll this afternoon. I plan on using this payroll to test the 10.e.1 next week. Have you heard when 10.e.2 might be released? We also have problems with the exempt flag on PR13 but it is only 1 employee.

I'm not sure where I heard it now, but I did hear the 10.e.2 was supposed to be released 20 Dec.
