BN27.1 & BN27.2
Legacy Contributor
I originally posted this question under another topic but as I read through the documentation more, I realized that may not have been the correct place - so my apologies for double submitting.
Has anyone successfully completed the BN27.1 & BN27.2? Between the KB articles and Benefits Year End User Guide, I'm still at a loss for what each field is used for and what values we use. It seems like I'm missing the instructions for these forms.
Is there is another KB article that explains these forms in more detail? I've ready KB1688719 & 1685485 multiple times.
Some of my specific questions:
Do we need to complete these forms if we do not need to override the values on BN99?
Topic R2 - We're self-insured so do I need to complete this topic?
Topic R4 - It looks like the values are blank, Y, N or E yet the field is 60 characters long. Am I misunderstanding what values would go in those fields?
Topics R5 & R6 - MEC - is this a Yes/No question? What's the difference between Count and Total Count?
Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

Hi Amy, I am unable to update BN27.2 to remove the * within the field that needs adjusted as we receive an error message invalid value. Is there a way/process for updating BN27.2 when data needs to be set to blank?

Reference KB1688719 How do I process ACA Employer and Employee Year-End Parameters. The override logic (towards the bottom of the KB) is explained in this KB to help you remove the '*' from your data.

Amy, I'm so sorry but after reading the KB1688719, it doesn't help me on how to remove the * that I have already in place in BN27.2. It's shows how to place an * in order to represent a blank value in an specific month or all months.

Hi Cmeier - Infor confirmed for us that for the R5 and R6 MEC fields, the valid values are 1=Yes, 2=No.

I feel really ****, but I cannot find anything explaining what Topic R5/R6 MEC actually means. I see the values are Yes or No, and that MEC literally means Minimum Essential Coverage, but what determines the value? I think my brain is simply frozen.

That maps to column a Minimum Essential Coverage Offer Indicator in Part III of the 1094-C - Did the employee offer MEC to at least 95% of its full-time employees and their dependents?

Carla - if I leave it blank, will the system generate it or do I need to put the Yes in there? Thank you!

Jenn - your benefits dept needs to make that determination if your plan(s) meet IRS criteria of the MEC definition. Here's a good link to pass along to them

I didn't try running it with the field left blank. I populated the field. If the answer is Yes for all months, you just need to populate the first field. You only need to populate by month if there are some months that are yes and some that are no.
