Our manufacturing facility applies labels to components we receive in, and we would like to implement more barcodes onto those labels so that different stages of the manufacturing process can scan those labels instead of needing to manually enter information or selecting them from long lists. We already have a software and process which is capable of producing the labels with relevant barcodes. Our issue stems from an inconsistency with reading the barcodes into CSI or FactoryTrack.
When the focus is in a notepad document, excel, microsoft word, or even web browser address bar a handheld barcodes scanner on the barcode reads the barcode with 100% accuracy. However when the focus is in a FactoryTrack or CSI edit field, as we would like it to be for our purposes, the barcode reads inconsistently: sometimes some capitol letters are made lowercase and sometimes the @ symbol [which happens to be used in the header of some 2D matrix barcodes] is sometimes interpreted as a "2". I have experimented in design mode with some of the edit component properties, but nothing I have tried has improved the reliability or accuracy of the datastring produced by a barcode and scanner into FactoryTrack or CSI.
Does anyone else have experience with this? My only idea for a work around is to have the scanners populate an excel file which is entered into CSI through paste rows append, but I suspect that this will be slower and more error prone.
