GL165 Run Group padded with '+++' via LWSNTXN node

I have a process flow that is running a SQL query and the output from that query is the run group out of GLTRANSREL. I update the run group in my GL165 job through the LWSNTXN node, using that run group, and then the job is submitted via the WebRun Node. But when I update the job using the output from the query (which is in a string) - the run group in the job parameters is being padded to the right with "+++" instead of spaces so GL165 ends up not finding the run group. I've tried everything I can think of to force it to be spaces and I'm having no luck. The only place the "+++" shows is in the job parameters - no where else. Any thoughts? Have you tried right-padding the value of the variable you are plugging into the Lawson txn with spaces?

Yes and that isn't working either. That's one of the several things I've tried. It's the weirdest thing.

It has to be something more related to the SQL. I have another flow that uses the Data Iterator to strip out the run group from the first record in a flat file and pass it to the LWSNTXN node, and then updates the GL165 job and that works perfectly. This is the first time I've used SQL because I don't have a flat file with the data - I have to pull it from GLTRANSREL

Just put a trim around the rungroup field, if you first do a length of that field you can tell if there are extra spaces and the Trim will remove those.

Sometimes when I use SQL I have to use the nodename_IterRow variable instead of the actual field returned. This happens mostly with date fields.

Are you placing the run group into a variable and then using that variable name in the Lawson txn, or are you using the output of the query, e.g.- <!SQLQuery999_RUN_GROUP> directly in your Lawson transaction string? Like 1300466, I sometime get unexpected results when I place sql query output into a variable and then try to work with the variable. Also you can try RTRIM() on the RUN_GROUP in your sql and see if that helps, or trim the variable as jpulaski suggested.

Thanks for the RTRIM suggestion - can't believe I didn't think of that - I was so focus on padding the field. I'm going to try the trim this morning. I apologize for the delayed response - I was out of the office. I'd be happy to upload the flow - but I'm not sure how? I've never uploaded a flow in this group. Could someone tell me how to do that? Thank you

Thank you all for your suggestions. Using the RTRIM function worked and stripped off the extraneous "+++" at the end of the run group. I appreciate your quick responses!
