Alternatives to Printing IC12 Inventory Bin Labels
Looking for options other than Zebra for printing the BIN labels for inventory.
Where does the system store the barcode? This seems like a stretch but, is it possible to get it into a mail merge?

We're on V11, converted in January, and in preparation for that I used a Word mail merge to print labels - I actually printed both legacy and Infor barcodes on the same label so the new labels could be used in both systems (and over 6-months later, many are still being used).
In V11, you just needed to append "IL:" to the front of the item number, and print that as a barcode
The best part is that you can format the label however you'd like - as long as you can find the fields/data.
Here's a link that explains the process
The downside is that everyone gets used to the nice labels, so you'll be forever running new mail merges and printing labels.

The system doesn't actually store the barcode. It's just the item number with an IL: prefix. The printer knows to print it as a barcode instead of human readable numbers because of the ZPL code, i.e. ^BC or ^B3 or ^BX, etc. The exception is with Kanban. Infor issues a unique identifier off of the stack for these.
I did ours in an Excel spreadsheet embedded with ZPL code. We are also V11 and for our transition I used a data matrix format barcode in the two opposite top corners, one for legacy and one for V11 with the IL: prefix just like Ed. However, in V11 I then took my ZPL code and encapsulated it in XML in the format necessary for the "Label Format" tab in Label Management. That way our users have been able to keep the pretty labels they've gotten used to minus the legacy barcode of course.0 -
