Migrating from Windows to Unix/Linux

Has anyone Migrated from Windows to Unix/Linux ? Do you need the same amount of resources (servers, CPU, memory, storage) on Unix/Linux as you would have on Windows 2012 r2?

this would be for Landmark v11 (ghr v11, lmfin 10.1.x. lmproc 10.1.x ), s3 10.0.9, MSCM, Mingle, and LBI.

I went through Infor's install/requirement guide but there is no sizing information that I could find.

You will have to contact your AE and have them size it for you. They usually ask you to fill a form and then, will get back to you. Also, may I know the reason, why you are moving from windows to unix/Linux? I am thinking of doing the vice versa, so, would like to understand what is driving you to move from windows, to unix/Linux?

we have over 30k employees and have all of the modules. running jobs and flows to extract data is painfully slow.

do you have db2 or oracle for database? whats the reason you are thinking of moving away from ix to windows?

We have oracle for database. The reason, I am thinking of moving away from Linux is because, windows is cheaper than unix/Linux. Also, we have more windows server administrators than unix/Linux. Also, windows, is more gui and unix is more typing.

is the cost more on oracle ? Linux is free right? also how big is your company (number of employees) and does your flows and jobs complete in timely manner?

HI, we use Oracle and Unix(but AIX) for our lawson financials but to keep Oracle costs down you might be able to use their Standard Edition license instead of the Enterprise Edition. we don't need the add'l features in Enterprise and run just fine on Standard.
