Document flow - Processing a full file only if no error

I'm facing a business case that I'm not fully sure if this can be handled in IONDesk Dataflows/Workflows. Hope you can help me figuring this out.

Running this in Cloud MT environment.

I'm receiving a CSV file from a Connection Point (through Enterprise Connector). The file template is defined as generating Single output.

I'm triggering a Document flow based on this file connection point.

Then, I need to perform several controls on each lines of the document received and, at the end, update M3 (Using ion api calls) BUT only if all controls are passed OK for all lines of my input document...

If one of the rows are not passing the controls, I don't want to do anythingin M3, only warning the user one of the row is incorrect and reject the full file globally.

Is this something which is manageable by using only IONDEsk Dataflows and Workflows? if yes, could you please provide some tips on how implement this ?

Hi,

Have you investigated to use MEC for this?

If you only want to keep it within ION below process should work:

1. Receive file in document flow
2. Verify file with python script - python script adds a tag to file if OK or NOT. (guess you can do the same validation with XSL if you are on-prem)
3. In document flow - check if validation OK or not.
- OK - split file per line and send each line to ION-API either through a workflow or directly to ION-API endpoint.
- NOK - stop processing.

Could you please give a little bit more details about controls on CSV content?

A possible scenario may be:
You can create a Data Flow to "receive" a file from a connection point and then pass it's content to a Workflow as input parameters. In the workflow you can perform your controls and, if they pass, fire the M3 API.

Yes, that's exactly the idea, but I want to fire the M3 API for each rows of the input file only if ALL input file rows passed the controls without error...

Basically my CSV input file is a list of item/warehouses for which I need to update MMS002 settings.

- The number of rows in the CSV file is fixed or dynamic?
- Could you please send the example of your CSV file?

Hi Danil,

The number of rows in the file will be dynamic, depends on how many records the user wants to update.

here is a sample iof the CSV file :

CONO;WHLO;ITNO;SSQT
100;001;2105132;1476
100;001;2104544;366

I wanted to find an ION Desk "standard" way of doing but unfortunately I think that you're right and the only solution would be to use MEC instead...

About your other advise by usinf a Python script : I don't think this will work as soon as the validations we should perform are related to M3 records, so we should implement API calls to do this (that I don't think we can do rin Python scripts ? Am I correct ?)

You are right, if you need to validate the data with M3 API:s it is not possible to do the validation either with python or with XSL (ION Mapper). For this requirement I believe the best solution would be to use MEC. Not sure if it is even possible within ION-DESK - since the tricky part will be to do the "loop" over the lines and save the validation results somewhere...

Transform input file to XML before sent to MEC - Avoid use Flat Files.
