Update IDM Document - Add new value to a multi-value attribute

Good afternoon,

I am looking to add a new value to a multi-value attribute of an IDM document via Json.

I have been able to update an attribute with /items/{pid} but have been unable to find a way to add a new attribute value.

Anyone have any guidance on this task?

Hello Jeff - I would recommend calling the GET /items/{pid} first, for your Document Type. This will produce a JSON with the Multi Values. Below is an example response with a multi value attribute called Multi_Value_Field, and the values are Value1;Value2;Value3;Value4. This should allow your to format it it properly for the POST to update the item. Hope this helps!

Hi Jeff -

using the api call, multi-value 'attributes' need to be supplied as 'collections' so instead of <attrs><attr> you need to wrap the iterating attribute as a collection with <colls< <coll> ....

for your update scenario I would use PUT:

you'll need your PID so like @brandonsuggests you might start with GET to collect details before you update.... if you need to search for the pid you'll want a single result so you can use "/items/search/item" ... if this is a pattern you might consider an API Flow to orchestrate the behavior with a single call.

Here is an example....

the multi-value attribute is 'Notes':

Thanks Brandon and David for your information.

I need to use the Get to get the latest info and then append a new value to the response to use in the Put for the update.

Any words of wisdom or direction.
