Tote Labels and Tote Management

Hi there! I'm Zee, product manager for IC. I have some questions about the Tote and Tote Label used for delivery. I'd like to understand some details about the following:

Tote Labels:

1. What specific information should be included on a tote label to ensure accurate and efficient delivery after picking? Listing some and you may add or comment: Tote ID, Order Number (Sales order)/Requisition number (Requisition), Customer Information (name, address (ship to), Destination location, Barcodes (which ones are preferred to be barcoded), date and time of picking, Handling instruction (Fragile, Temp Controlled)

2. Do you have a fixed Tote ID or system generated that changes every time?

2. How should the tote label be designed to accommodate delivery scenarios, such as direct-to-customer or requester shipments versus bulk deliveries to distribution centers? Is there a difference in the first place?

3. What is the typical size of your tote labels?

4. What barcode standards do you use in printing the totes?

5. Do you combine totes/tote labels during shipment consolidation and re-print a singular Tote label to represent the lot? If not, how do you do it today?

6. Are there any regulatory or compliance requirements that the tote label must meet, and if so, what are they? (example: hazardous materials regulations, FDA)

Tote Management:

1. Once a tote has been sent to another location, do you expect it to return to the main or originating location or the next facility can use it?

2. Is the Tote ID assigned to the Tote permanent and tracked?

3. For tote without a permanent Tote ID, when do you assign a new one? Before or during picking? or a separate process in the lifecycle of a tote?

I know this is a lot but your input to all or some of the questions above will be appreciated. Should you have some concerns posting your answers here, you may send me an email to zossane.marudo@infor.com

Thanks,

Zee
