Hey everyone,
Over the last year, we've ramped up development and have been working hard to provide highly functional and usable interfaces for the Data Catalog. It's a part of our data platform strategy that's since grown to be used by the likes of:
- Infor ION
- Data Lake
- Birst
- d/EPM
- Governance, Risk, & Compliance
- 3rd party metadata management
Platforms like Data Lake allow you to ingest and query data objects and files like JSONs, CSVs, and more but in order to do so, you need to define metadata in the Data Catalog. Quite similar to how XML files often have XSD schemas to define the structure and finer details of what that XML is entitled to do. However, it's long-since been a pain to create and register your own metadata just so you can start using it across ION and Data Lake.
Metadata Wizard
In January 2020, we'll be releasing our first version of our metadata wizard that allows you to upload sample JSON and DSV (delimited files such as CSV, PSV, TSV, etc.) files and automatically generate your metadata models from the content your users or applications generate.

The wizard is designed to help automate and manage your object metadata without having to write much - if any - code! Taking a peak at the Raw View of any metadata object helps you understand just how much time's saved on what's a tedious task.
Future Development
Over time, we'll expand the wizard to include support for BODs, XMLs, and other data formats you're capturing into the Data Catalog. Additionally, we're hard at work to ensure you'll be able to edit your metadata on the fly to add new fields, change data types, or otherwise enhance your metadata models as needed.
Once it's out, feel free to send us any feedback and let us know how we can make the tool even easier to use!
