Scale-out the Enterprise Connector to another host

Hi,

When I scale out the Enterprise Connector to another host, does this other host require a separate database ?

This is not clear in the documentation.

No. You must use the same database of the primary host otherwise it is a new installation and not a scale-out

the EC database contains just the credentials. No data are saved on the DB. if one EC goes down the other will start. the data (file or DB or JMS) will be removed from the local location, once the EC has copied/transferred to S3/SQS on the cloud. so no risk to lose data and the second EC will start from where the first ended up

I have a a dedicated EC host. I defined a single Location using this EC, then use the Location in multiple Database Connection points on different servers. However, you may have have to complete some TCP/IP administration for each database to allow the connection.

I answered in haste and did not address the "scale out" question. While I believe the InforIONECGrid supports multiple Database connection points, I don't believe you can horizontally scale the database (all though Postgres on RDS may support effective horizontal scaling but I have not yet used an rds endpoint as a grid source).

The jar file may also be a maintenance issue, as the jar can be updated in multi tenant resulting in a customers running a lagging version.

It is clear to use the same database. When I have two EC with the same database you have an active-active setup. BODs can be delivered to both instances then. How can you guarantee sequencing since the BOD itself is not in the EC database ? In case one goes down, does the other still forwards to the jms queue, missing the BODS on the unit that is down ?

I tried to setup a pair on Linux but don't succeed in setting up the second one because the database complains there is already data present.
