Doc. Flow and SHOW BOD Question

Hi,

I want to do some data manipulation in ItemMaster or customermaster BOD using ION Mapping. I know how to do it. Create mapping and add to doc. flow…etc.

But the problem is it only applies to sync bod, but I need to do in Show BOD.

Reason I want to do data manipulation in Show BOD because I use M3 EVS005 to download data from M3, and it exports Show BODs.

I created a mapping for Show.CustomerPartyMaster BOD.

Then I tried to create a doc. flow and add mapping, but doesn’t work because M3 and Rhythm connector doesn’t support show BOD.

So my questions are …

1. Is it by design ION connector can’t work with Show BOD? Any way to get around this?
2. If ION connector and doc. flow don’t work with Show BODs, is there anyway I can mass download data in sync BOD from M3?

What I mentioned was true for third party connection points. I overlooked the fact that you are using M3 connection point - which is of type "Infor Application" connection point. For this type of connection points, you indeed cannot add a 'Show' document in the documents tab. But just need to configure the corresponding 'Get' document in the correct direction. Then the 'Show' document will show up automatically during the construction of document flow. Because note that Show is a response BOD that is designed to be an answer to an incoming 'Get' BOD. So in order to be sending a Show BOD, you should be first receiving the Get BOD. These were the OAGIS principles based on which Show BOD was not allowed for routing so far. But now, this position has been loosened.

This all means, for 'Infor Application' connection points, it is sufficient to configure the "Get" BOD in your CP. As a consequence, You will be automatically able to use the corresponding Show BOD in your doc flow.

Let me try to illustrate this with the below example. Below I have two connection points called "App A" and "App B". And 'A' sends a Show.InventoryCount BOD to 'B'.

Here is what is configured in the Documents tab of App A. It says, he can receive "Get.InventoryCount" ==> Implying that he can send a Show.InventoryCount.

Here is what is configured in the Documents tab of App B. It says, he can send "Get.InventoryCount" ==> Implying that he can receive a Show.InventoryCount.

and here is how I can consequently configure a Show BOD between the two using a doc flow.

When this flow is activated, even if App A sends a Show.InventoryCount BOD with some other ToLogicalID (for example, ToLogicalID = App C which is some other app), then App C WILL NOT receive this Show BOD. Only App B will receive this BOD by virtue of the above document flow.

Hi Wayne,

I don't get your point. ION can handle Show BOD; these BODs are used during initial load process and standard M3 mappings exist for this operation.

If you need to do data manipulation, maybe you can do copy the standard INFOR mapping (M3BOD_CustomerPartyMaster_Show_Out_xxx), rename me and do what you need to do.

ION can handle show bods, but currently its routed by the actual 'to logical id' of the receiving application that is populated by the sender in the header field 'ToLogicalId'. It cannot be routed using a document flow until now.

But this is changed with a recent product feature in ION called the 'explicit routing'. Please read my response on this thread: community.inforxtreme.com/.../36340

I have read the doc. and having a question.

From doc.....

"Application B generates a reply document, Acknowledge or Show. The logical ID from to logicalID request message is added to the to logical ID in the reply message.

The reply message is received by ION and the relevant data flow is found.

The message is routed to application A according to data flow for reply message, to logicalID is ignored."

I think this is what I want. To have Show BOD to ignore the toLogicalID and route through the data flow. But the problem is how/where do I config ION in order to have the show BOD to find the relevant data flow, and ignore the toLogicalID? By default, it just route the message based on toLogicalID.

Is there any documentation on how to do such configuration?

Wayne, Are you on Infor OS Multi-Tenant cloud or using an On-premise installation? If its the cloud edition, you should be able to do this now. NO special instructions are needed. Its the same way how you define a document flow for other documents. i.e.,

Step 1: Include the Show BOD on the documents tab of the concerned connection point.

Step 2: make your document flow between sender and receiver. When you click the document icon on the flow, you can select a Show BOD.

IF you are using an On-premise installation, you need to wait until 12.0.40 and upgrade to that version to make use of this.

You are right! that was my original problem too... :-)

I am on MT 12.0.39.

Yesterday, I tried to add show BOD to M3 connection point and Rhythm connection point but I can't find SHOW BOD there.

What am I missing?
