End of life - Google cloud print

Do any of you know what Infor will do now that Google closes down the Google Cloud Print service as of December 31, 2020?

Hi all,

My name is Rachel Paek and I'm the Product Manager of IDM. We are aware of this information and IDM will be writing our own printing solution. This will provide an option for customers to eliminate all dependencies on 3rd party printing services. The development for this is currently underway, with a timeline for the delivery in the summer 2020.

Technically they don't have to do anything because they only support printing to PDF in the cloud. It's up to the customer to find work-arounds to get it to a local printer directly. If you rely on the capability to print direct to a printer, your organization should probably implement a printer proxy like PaperCut (www.papercut.com/.../mobile-email-to-print.html) that enables features such as email to print. Relying on beta products (Google Cloud Print) should never be a production strategy for something as critical as an ERP system.

I 100% agree regarding relying in beta products. But when I look at guides presentations etc from Infor they all state that printing is done using Google Cloud Print and the IDM interface (Admin->Print->Current Printing Service) only supports Google Cloud Print. My perception, and I also think my customers, relying on Infors information is that IDM output can replace OpenText StreamServe for M3 printing in the cloud and therefor I would think they have to come up with a solution.

Hello Guys,

Is there some news around this subject ?
Is there an alternative for printing locally other relying on Google Cloud Print and that would be fully supported by Infor ?

I confirmed that in Campus we are still referencing Google Cloud Print as a solution but not other else products

IDM Enterprise Print is now part of the ION Enterprise Connector. Seems to work quite well on a couple of the projects I've been involved with

Same area in IDM as Google Print.

There is a process to migrate / reuse current GCP identifiers into the ION EC so that you would not have to redefine the source systems configuration.
