SLDcmove - DcmovePVb - Using the "pPostDate" to only process specific entries

I'm using DcAMatlmvSp for quantity moves that I'm performing via code. I am at a point now where a second project will also be placing items into the SLDcmove IDO.

I'm trying to understand how the pPostDate parameter is used. If I save the Trans Time I'm passing in and use that as my post date it still processes everything in the table.

Does the pPostDate parameter allow you to process only specific entries? Can that be done?

Post Date should be a date within the current open Accounting Period that the material transactions are to be posted to.

Good to know, but sadly not going to help me. Perhaps I'm overly concerned.

I'm going to have multiple projects that write to this table/IDO. I have written my code so that all additions are queued up in either an InvokeRequestData or UpdateCollectionRequestData object. Then, batch adding them all at once immediately followed by the move.

My concern is if there is could be any overlap where Project A writes the the table, but then Project B manages to slip in between the completion of the insert/update just as Project A is executing the move.

Again; I could very well be making a mountain out of a molehill. I want to be sure I keep my data integrity.

Just a thought: if you control Projects A and B (and C...), you could implement a mutex or semaphore in all these projects. However if the table can be modified during your insertion, then I don't know... Maybe if you use something like a BEGIN TRANSACTION, then perform your update, and SELECT the table rows where RecordDate > NOW() - 1 minute (to check if a row has been updated during the last minute), and then either ROLLBACK or COMMIT your transaction depending if there had been an update.

This is still not mixup-proof, but it should reduce the probability of concurrent updates.

I was thinking about that as well. My only problem is I don't really have the time to do it. I may try to figure something out to grant singular access but was hoping I wouldn't have to engineer something.
