DBA want to move Infor OS database into different server.what change I can make in application to po

We are using infor os 12.0.26. We are doing some internal server upgrades. DBA want to move the SQL SERVER database to different server.

After DBA backup and restore database to different server what change I can make in Infor OS application to point to new database server instance ?

Please advice!

I had asked Infor Support about this last year and their answer is below. If you use the same SQL server name, then you could possibly do it without ICS, otherwise you will need to go through ICS.

Resolution:

Our development team has reviewed this request and it is apparently a complicated procedure and there is no documentation to support such a move. They have recommended that you contact the Infor Consulting Services group to see if they have done this type of task for another customer or if they can design something for you to accomplish the move.

I would also recommend entering an enhancement request so that this type of maintenance can be tested and documented by our development team and made part of the general documentation or procedures

What if you re-run the install media for InforOS for the version you are on. I know that i had to do that in the past to fix the certificates, maybe you could try that to fix the database connections.

Hi

Checked for a while ago the steps to change username and password for the database connection. Not sure if it covers the same entries in the configuration files/settings etc but there is an issue with a document listing all needed changes for this. Might be pretty much the same settings that apply to changing the db-name/location.

The KB article is "KB 1912497".

This can simply be done by setting up a DNS alias for the old server pointing to the new if you want to go that path. I've done this several times. Only the InforOS server itself cares - so it could be as ugly as an entry in the local host file also. It is possible to change it inside the software as well - but there are several locations that refer to it. As support recommends - its not something that's easy.
