Is it possible to Push XML(non-BOD) via Direct IMS?

Hi,

My 3rd party application is pushing XML file(non-BOD) via IMS. I need to pick this XML, transform it to a Custom BOD and need to send it to Another application.

I am not sure how to achieve the above highlighted part. Do anyone have suggestions?

Hi,

We can create a file template and choose 'Format Type' as 'XML' and give the sample XML content and save it. Then click on 'Generate Metadata' button to generate a Custom BOD. This custom BOD will have all the tags of the sample XML we have provided.

We can then add the custom BOD to IMS connection point, can perform transformation in document flow and sent to other application.

Hi Srinivas,

The same way i created Custom BOD for my Input XML. But it is not working as expected.

When i push the XML via IMS, it is not converting to a Custom BOD. The same XML file is passed to ION successfully,and then travelled through the ION Mapper and finally dropped in a SFTP. When i looked at the final Output it contains only this element "<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>" It don't have actual data.

My ION Mapper getting the input as XML instead of BOD. Thats why i am getting this output. Any other thoughts?

IMS will not build a BOD out of a non-BOD data format. It carries the payload "as-is". In order to convert an XML to a BOD, you would need a scripting step in between (available only in MT) which can convert the regular XML to a custom BOD.
Or else, you need to send the XML - not via IMS but via File connector - in which case the File connector can automatically convert the plain XML into a Custom BOD.

(ION Mapper step cannot help here because it needs a BOD as an input and it produces a BOD as output. )

When you look in OneView for the read of this document, what do you see in the first step? Does it have all the information you passed in via the API? If you setup a test SFTP directory to read the Custom Document from and process it that way, does it have the information you expect?

Hey, Yes. I can push the XML to the SFTP and can read the same file using File Connection Point---> Create Custom BOD and then can do the transformation. It works. Thanks (Y)
