ION Enterprise Connector Works with Amazon RDS (SQL Server Database)

Hello Everyone,

Could you please help me? I have a customer who needs to use ION Enterprise Connector with their AWS environment. Do you know if ION Enterprise Connector is supported with SQL Server of Amazon RDS?

I`m appreciate if anyone can help me.

Pedro - According to the documentation, the Enterprise Connector supports SQL Server and PostGres (PPAS). From my research, Amazon RDS for SQL Server is Microsoft and can be matched to one of the below versions and editions.

System requirements for an Enterprise Connector server:

Windows 2016 Essentials, Standard, or Datacenter
Windows 2019 Essentials, Standard, or Datacenter
Linux Redhat Enterprise Server 7 and 8

Caution:

For IDM Enterprise Print, Windows servers are required. Linux is not supported.

Enterprise Connector is not supported on a Windows Domain Controller.

Amazon Corretto JDK 8 (64 bits) update 212 or later installed. JDK 11 is not supported.
It is, for example, known that the Bouncy Castle extension does not work well with Enterprise Connector. Therefore, you must use a default JDK installation without extensions.

Requirements for the database:

SQL Server 2016 Web, Standard, or Enterprise
SQL Server 2017 Web, Standard, or Enterprise
SQL Server 2019 Web, Standard, or Enterprise
PostGres Plus Advanced Server DB (PPAS), 64 bit version. Version 9.5, 9.6, 10.6, 10, 11, 12

Note: SQL Server Express can be used for non-production environments only, with expected limitations in performance and, potentially, functionality. SQL Server Express is not supported for production. Issues found in a non-production environment must be reproduced on a supported database version that can be used in production.

Here are the Pre-requisites of ION EC: https://docs.infor.com/ion/2020-x/en-us/iondeskceug/default.html?helpcontent=lsm1436532180643.html Amazon RDS is officially not on the list. But as long as RDS makes it look like a normal SQL server to EC, it may work. You can give it a try. (I know other customers who have installed Enterprise connector on an Amazon environment. But I do not know if they used SQL server on RDS or a regular full SQL install on an EC2 instance.) If you do try this, please share the results back.
