Infor ION Workflow Process BOD Shipping - CSI 10 Cloud Version

Hello,

I am a new user to Infor. We are early in the training and development phase moving toward a Q2, 2021, live implementation. I would like to know if there is a standard XML Process BOD that can be used to complete a shipment for a customer order. I would like for it to ship the items and relieve the inventory, as well as update the customer order with shipment details such as carrier information and tracking numbers. I started by taking a shipment file created by a Sync Bod and adjusted the data to create a Process BOD. The Process BOD gets picked up and it appears to process according to the Replication Document Inbox. I don't see any errors, but I don't see any changes to the customer order either. I have searched online, and also looked through some of the documentation, but I don't know if what I am looking for already exists. Is there something standard that will accomplish what I am looking for?

I am not quite sure what are you trying to achieve there. But from what I understand, in order to do so, I would encourage you to go through the events module/course.

There 2 kinds of events - (A) Application/ERP/System defined events (Like sending email etc.) (B) form events (say what will happen on a click, textbox blur etc. )

There are two ways you can send data via XML and update collection (customer order, etc.)

1) Form events and scripting (good to use this one when you are good in scripting).

Call a form event(say on click of button or load), Iterate a loop over the collection and embed values in XML tags collating in string builder, thereafter pass that StringBuilder where you want to (you can pass in API as well) .

To update data/collection/ order no. etc., use the form script called on form event updating the collection or update collection form event itself.

2) AES - Application event system (pre-written events in Mongoose, you just have to pass parameters like collection name, field etc.)

If this is all gibberish, I recommend you to go through the Application event system course, There is a pdf and training sessions for the same. It will help you a lot. (NOTE: there might be some prerequisite for that course, check beforehand)

Thank you for the response. I do not think I communicated clearly in my original message. My understanding is that Events would be triggered from within CSI. I am trying to initiate data transactions from an external system.

I am trying to get data from an external shipping system into CSI. One approach is for the shipping system to create an XML file for each order with the data needed and have an ION workflow pickup the file and process it. I don't know if there is something already created to do this. I need to update the customer order in CSI to add shipping information and relieve the inventory for items that were shipped.

I guess I really have 2 questions: Is this an appropriate way for shipping data to come into CSI? What are the IDO's and data elements that need to be updated to ship the order and complete the inventory transactions?

I am not opposed to coding something that will work, but I am still trying to learn what Infor best practices are. Also trying to get my head around the data layout and structure as well as basic process flow.

Take a look at the Customer Order Shipping Error Processing form. We use it to post shipments from our external shipping system. It will ship the items and relieve the inventory but it doesn't update carriers and tracking numbers. The IDO behind the form is SLDccos. I wrote an app to push the data from the shipping system into the form and post the shipments with a method call. I am not familiar with ION so maybe you cannot do this in ION.

Thank you. I think I am still missing a piece of the puzzle. I am able to load the data to the form, but I don't appear to get the post process to finish. I am trying to post manually through the form before I move to automation. The status updates to "pending" but the process seems to hang there. My limited understanding is that when it posts it should perform the inventory transactions and then be removed from the list. What am I missing? Thank you for the help.

What status are you using when you load the data? I use "Pending" and am able to post from the form as well as via the IDO method. You are correct, the entries should be removed from the list when posting is successful or the status will change to "Error" if there is an issue posting.

I had some data incorrect. I was able to get this to finally work with manually posting. I will work on automating it at some point, but knowing it works is huge progress. I have to give my attention to other projects now. Thank you for the help!
