depm Analysis Dimensions

Hi,

what's the correct use of Analysis dimensions? I know that a few are related to existing modules (Strategy and DP). They are reserved dimensions or we can "freely" use them, for example, to filter a data area within the allocations module? And if yes which one is preferred to use (analysis_01, analysis_02, analysis_03...).

Alberto, analysis dimensions should be used for additional details of your budgeting data - this means you can add things like customers, products, regions, etc. to you budgeting model.

Thanks Nick,

normally i use the Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Segment dimension to model entity like Articles, Business Partner (if necessary using parallel or alternate hierarchy),...so Analysis actually works the same way as Segments all around depm modules?

Hi Alberto,

The Analysis dimensions and the Segment dimensions behave differently in the standard dEPM budgeting interfaces. I suggest setting up both examples in cubes so you can experience the differences. It is key to consider how the users seek to interact with the data before you commit to segment vs. analysis dimensions in your budget cube.

When using a Segment dimension to support planning, a user would select a single account to enter data by segment in the Segment Tab. This will feel like a manual allocation to a user. https://docs.infor.com/depm/12.0.7/en-us/depmolh_on-premise/default.html#

When using an Analysis dimension to support planning, a user can select a single member from the Analysis dimension in the left hand navigation to plan the entire set of accounts by that member. For a given organization, a user can plan multiple Analysis members in the same task, but the workflow still follows the Organization member. Each Analysis member is not individually approved in the workflow.
