ION - SSH connection point for SFTP server in CLOUD

Hello,

First of all happy new year and best wishes for 2021.

On our project we have a new Flux to develop which will deposit files generated on our side on an SFTP server.
Everything is fine because ION allows us to do it but the problem is that the connection to the SFTP server is not done by password but by SSH authentication (public key).

So we are asked to provide the public SSH keys of our environments to be able to communicate.
As we are in the Cloud I don't see how I could generate an ssh key and I don't know if infor would be allowed to provide it to us.

Do you have an opinion on that?

Hello,

I finally created the public and private SSH keys from my local pc and I provided the public SSH key to the sftp server client.

For example, to create a 2048-bit RSA private key:

- openssl genrsa -out private.pem 2048

and its associated public key:

- openssl rsa -in private.pem -outform PEM -pubout -out public.pem

And in infor ION i import our private key and imported the public key that the sftp server provided us.

Happy New Year Walid! You should be able to create a new File (sFTP from Cloud) Connection Point to accomplish this task. However, the endpoint (not Cloud Suite), is who should provide the private and public keys. Since you are communicating from Cloud Suite to on-premise, which is a one-way send, the receiving side would create the private/public keys. You can then import those into the File Connection Point, along with the passphrase for the private key, and be able to send to your endpoint. Hopefully this helps!

I have been asked by vendors hosting SFTP sites to generate a keypair for ssh connections. This would generally be a good idea, because then the private key is never exchanged, only the public key. And the passphrase would never be known by anyone but yourslef. Keypairs for SSH connections can easily be generated using PuTTYgen, but the SFTP site may have special requirements for how the keypair is generated, such as a specific set of algorithms (ie. RSA) and strength (ie. 256 bit). Make sure you understand your connection points requirements before you generate the keypair. The private key can then be saved out of PutTYgen and imported into ION using the passphrase you created when you generated the keypair.
