Block the log in of users via web and Office Plus

Hi,

Sometimes when doing maintenance at the data cubes / dimensions it would be helpful to restrict the login for users. For Application Studio reports, we use a maintenance page that is displayed and keeps the users from log in. Via Office Plus they are still able to log in and therefore to disturb an admins work.

Is there any way to restrict / block the log in for a maintenance period?

I thought about "disabling" the user in the Repository using the dbo.oNTUser and an ImportMaster script. But I don't know if this is the best option.

Hi Sylvana,

what about the reservation mode?

Can be set either using the VBA-API (yes, I know, only good for V11) or within OLAP Administration Console (right click on the registration - also only valid in V11).

But that must be set for each database separately, therefore your solution is less work. However, don't know, what Infor thinks about modifying the respository data using your own SQL-scripts :-)

Thanks for the quick help. Right click on the registration choosing "Restrict access to database..." works well. Didn't know this easy solution before. Thanks :-)

Hi,

I tried the "Restrict access to database..." option for some maintenance actions now. It works fine when the database is running, but is always reset, when I restart the database. Is this a normal behaviour? Are there any options to avoid it?

We currently had problems with our model and I restarted it without loading cubes to set back previous changes. I want to block users from loading cubes until I am done with my maintenance. As the restriction was always set back, it was difficult to do this step without interuption.
