IDM API "distribution/v1/submit" - XML data file location

Hi,

There is IDM API "distribution/v1/submit"

In IDM Output Management User Guide there is example how to use it.

I receive XML file to my SFTP from 3rd party.

ION reads the file via connection point.

I want to generate PDF file based on XML file content.

When I call IDM API, how does IDM know where XML file is located?

There is only file name, there is no location in the example.

The file is not stored in IDM. At least, Infor suggest that you do store it in IDM, retrieve the content by PID and then submit the job.

The filename you see in the documentation is the name of the attached file to the email that you will receive.

So if my API parameters are like below:

... i receive an email with the xml file attached, content = "test" = base64 value. Name is "MyData.xml"

I need to generate PDF file and store it in IDM.

PDF file to be generated based on received XML file data.

Is it possible?

Yes, it is possible by using the IDM api through ION API.

The online documentation (https://docs.infor.com/idm/2020-x/en-us/idmopmug/default.html#) give you a good starting point on how to use the output API.

Basically you specify the input content (xml file, existing IDM document(s) etc), how you want to process it (using a template, merging documents etc) and the target (sending email, printing or archiving in IDM).

If you have an xml file you want to transform with a template you can either upload the xml file to IDM first and then reference it with and xquery (as Maxime pointed out) or base64 encode the xml content and add the encoded content in the request

Thank you for your response.

I have figured out API JSON body structure.

Now my challenge is to encode XML file to base64.

When I do encoding, I loos all XML tags, only values get converted.
