Hi Community,
are there any plans to design Infor d/EPM Dashboards responsive in future? Would be great if widgets will be arranged depending on the device or size of the browser window.
KR,
Markus
There are already a number of features of App Studio features that support device independence like row and column properties like allow growth and minimum size designed to allow row contents to adjust to window size and stay readable.
Paging controls placed in footers allow the user to select the number of records retrieved in slices to avoid scrolling.
It's also worth checking out GETENVIRONMENTINFO in App Studio where you can test a lot of system properties like the width of a user screen (in pixels), typically with a load action and adjusting the display accordingly. Familiarity with this command is not universal.John
Hi John,
very good ideas, thanks for that! And I would like to add that the size of widgets can change just as flexibly with the window size. I already use that very intensively. What I miss is that widgets are automatically rearranged once the minimum window size is reached. For example, the horizontal arrangement of widgets could change to a vertical arrangement.A good example of this is the Infor Concierge environment - here it already works as described.Any chance to develop this for Infor d/EPM Dashboards?
Best,
Hi Markus, this is a great thought. We did already spend some thinking time on this in the past - but it would be a considerable change/feature that we were not able to prioritize, and so it's not on the current roadmap. If you don't mind, it would be great if you could create an enhancement request for us with some examples. Ideally you would also share the "ERID" here, so other members can contribute. It would be interesting to hear, how many people actually produce content to be consumed on mobile phones today. And maybe this will also trigger exchange of experience and great ideas around mobile usage within the wider community.
Hi Gunnar,
thank you and I will do so. To be honest, I need some time to prepare the ER, so I will report back with it in a few weeks.
In reference to your text:
"It would be interesting to hear, how many people actually produce content to be consumed on mobile phones today. And maybe this will also trigger exchange of experience and great ideas around mobile usage within the wider community."
I suspect that mobile usage will only become interesting when the display of reports and dashboards becomes more flexible. Also, custom application reports are not yet built to work well for a mobile device. So there are two challenges here, one is to the potential for optimization of Infor d/EPM Dashboards technology, the other is to the designers of reports in Application Studio.I believe that a few smart dashboard / report examples should be developed that can be integrated into the demo environment of the Infor d/EPM Mobile App and additionally made available in the Sample Application for designers to provide ideas how to work mobile.
This would give the topic of mobile use of Infor d/EPM much more significance
Best regards,
