Is a SQLServerExpress version sufficient for the use of Enterprise Connector?

Hello,

In my context, EC is used :
- to support "reasonable" data flow exchanges between third party applications and the M3 Cloud Suite (some interfaces)
- to manage print jobs locally (through IDM Output Management)
- to host the CFT Client service used occasionally for data export/import operations

I read the same recommendations in an article - I can't remember which one.

But, apart from the unofficially supported aspect of Infor (and I can understand that), I wonder if, from a point of view, it has a real impact or not on the way things work for files where exchanges are not so intensive and numerous.

Because, if not, it means an additional license to acquire on top of the infrastructure to support it (one per EC environment) - which in the end is not neutral for the end user while the Cloud is supposed to make these concerns disappear

A SQL Server Standard license is $750. How much is your spend on your ERP system and how much revenue does your company make? Those types of arguments are kind of ridiculous given you'll spend a lot more on the hardware to run it, especially during the chip shortage.

I have used it for a short term solution to print for a new remote location with limited connection to the server stack. Actually worked really well for that situation, I only needed it for 60 days. Zero issues and zero maintenance, it hard not to like the simple solutions. -- For production we use full SQL server.
