Is it possible to have Grid totals?

Is it possible to have totals at the bottom or top of a grid? For example, a grid has an amount field. I want to see the total amount for all of the rows on the grid. Another tool I use calls this aggregates. I don't see a way to do this with the grid. Am I missing something?

If there isn't an out-of-the-box way to get totals. Does anyone have any suggestions on what they've done?

In the grid, no. You can position edit components above or below the grid in relation to the column you want to total. Then use an aggregate function from the data binding property:

Select the Function, Collection and Property, and optionally any grouping you want to include:

You can create a Script to read the lines in the Grid and Sum them up. (Probably best with a Button to make this an optional run to not affect performance)

This is a stab-in-the-dark suggestion based on my experience:

Grid's are collection based, meaning if the data doesn't come out of a collection you can't display it in the grid. If the goal is to have the totals inside the grid itself, the only thing I can think of would be to write a Custom Load Method for the collection which returns all the values but you then insert a "fake" record at the end where you have calculated whatever values you were looking for.

I don't think you'd want to do this in the event someone modifies data & it tries to write your calculated data back into the system.

I didn't know about the Aggregate function. So far I've only bound edit components to Property and Variable.

I think every grid tool that I've used has the ability to have totals. Does anyone know if Infor has any plans to add that functionality? Doesn't Infor have a way to suggest and vote on features to add? If so, how do I do that?

The standard Mongoose grid component is somewhat limited in this regard. As Stephen mentioned, there are ways around it, but it requires additional work.

There is the SOHODataGrid component, but, to date, there is no documentation at all on how to populate/use the component from a Mongoose perspective, that I am aware of.

Mongoose also has DataViews, which are read-only grids and can provide totals, group by, etc functionality. Not sure if this is the route you can take being that it is read-only, but they are fairly easy to setup and will display the totals you are looking for.

There are some ways I can think of

Create a derived column in collection with SUM(collection column you want to sum with table prefix). This can be done in IDO. something like SUM(table1ALias.ColumnName) and bind this with your grid (new column will show sum in all rows, not the best way) OR put that derived column field below Grid in a label
Another way is on StdForm refresh completed event, call a script calculating sum and inserting a row at bottom of the grid (unbound with collection), showing the sum
Create a data view (it have an aggregate function ) and show that in the Form's component Dataview

Is this still the case today? I can't find any documentation on this as well. It's just weird to me that App Builder has a lot of functionality in their DataGrid but all of those were stripped away in Mongoose DataGrid.
