Unable to create file for message ?

Hello,

I have a doubt about the understanding of the necessity to use or not a file template.
My use case is very simple.

I have activated a workflow that transports the entire ItemMaster BOD to a directory on a file server.

My connection point seems to be set up correctly in that if I test the connection point itself it is OK and if I test the document it is OK too.

My flow is active but at the end it does not manage to produce the file (= the BOD) in the destination directory.

Do I have to use a file template for this to work?

A File template is not required to write a 'BOD' to a destination. A BOD can also be treated as a mere document and written directly to the destination. So your configuration looks correct based on the artefacts provided. The reason for failure almost looks technical. Mostly, connection issue or some tricky characters in the file.. And I also see that ION is retrying here. Some pointers.. 

1.  Check the connectivity once again on the ION side (by doing a 'Test' from the Connection tab) or also check for connectivity issues/ file write permission issues on the file server logs. As ION is retrying, I suspect this is mostly a FTP protocol level issue. 

2. Try resetting the flow by deactivating this doc flow and then activate again. (This should not be necessary, but sometimes it may help reset)

3. Indeed, try the alternate option of configuring a full bod file template for ItemMaster and reconfiguring this document using the file template option. If that also fails with the same message, at least you can conclude the problem is with the FTP connectivity. 

If none of the above improves the situation or provides any clues, please open a support ticket.
