Event Handlers - IdoPostItemInsert doesn't work for all IDOs

Hi there,

Is there a reason why I can use the IdoPostItemInsert trigger without any problems for IDOs like SLVendors or SLUsers for example, but when I try to use it with the SLSerials IDO, nothing happens at all ?

Is there any kind of logic that keeps me from being able to use this triggers with specific IDOs ?

I've experienced this too. I was working on some code to trigger when an Insert was done on the Material Transactions IDO. Tested my code and could never get the Event to fire.

All I was able to conclude was there must be some special way Infor is handling some data manipulation (inserts, deletes, etc) that doesn't interact at the IDO layer.

If there is a more specific answer, I'm definitely interested.

Are you manipulating the serial numbers form data directly in CSI? If you are adding/removing serial numbers through the application then the event should fire. If you are adding/removing serials from other aspects of the system, like a job close, etc, then the serial records are added from an IDO method in SQL. Anything added in SQL does not run through the framework so you can't get events this way, unless you do a IDOPostInvoke event on the source method.

What I've done is added triggers onto our tables like serial_mst that runs FireEventSp on insert to run a custom event. This would only be available for on premise though.

Well it pains me to say this, but it started working and I don't know why. Either I've been using the wrong method to clear the IDO cache after I configured it (most plausible scenario I guess) or I've really used the wrong settings for synchronous and transactional in my first attempts (which I'm pretty sure I didn't, because I end up using the default settings, synchronous and NOT transactional).

I will try to pay extreme attention if this happens again, because I honestly can't figure out what I managed to do wrong 347 times in a row.

If it helps, here's my final version of the routine:

- Create of modify event handler for the proper IDO

- Make sure User Preferences --> Runtime Behaviors --> Unload IDO Metadata With Forms is checked

- Unload Global Objects (Ctrl-U) on every site (in case you're in multisite mode)

- If not working, try Discard IDO Cache on the Configuration Manager then Ctrl-U again on every site

- Test the event handler (email first maybe, easier to determine if the trigger worked)

One thing I've found when working with the AES: if you make a new one, or make a change you should go to the utility server and restart the Infor Event Service. Maybe that was it.
