Remember user's last selection

Trying to understand how to save last user's selection so they don't have to reselect the same item, in case they are adding information pertaining to one item multiple times.

Right now when a user select an item(1) and add any info, upon saving they have to select the item again, i would like to save the last selection when a user save a record. so they don't have to look and find it again.

On the Item Event can you create an event that sets a variable and then on save tell the item field default value to be that variable?

So I went and created an event handler "test" for Item under data change, which will save the value of item to test1 variable, now don't know how to change the default value on save.(I'm very new to SyteLine)

In the Properties of the component under Data Source you can set the default value. See if that works for you.
