maximum number of characters in a string cell

Hi all,

I was wondering if there is a max number of characters that can be stored in a string cell? (as opposed to a numeric cell )

There are separate limits for cell notes (Another way of storing text) and string cells.

The answer to the question is:

Number of characters in a text cell

1,000,000 bytes

However - as ever - the fact that you can do something like store 1M bytes doesn't necessarily make it a good idea.
