ActivationPolicy Trigger When Particular IDM Document is Created

We are trying to determine how to trigger an ION workflow when a particular document is uploaded to IDM. We are using a custom doctype (OE Delivery POD) when uploading certain files to IDM. Currently we have 5 attributes that need to be filled in. We would like to enter just the key attribute (Order Number in this case) and then use a workflow to query the ERP and fill in the other attributes - all found on the Order Header.

Jeffrey - First, enable ION Connection, in IDM Control Center under Configuration > ION Configuration. Then enable the Publish to ION option for your Document Type. This will create a Sync.ContentDocument in ION for the IDM Connection Point. You can then create a Data Flow that will send the document to an API Connection Point to the CSD API(s) needed for the data. Once you have the data, there is an IDM API that will allow you update the additional attributes.

Which ERP are you using? If using Syteline, it's fairly simple to extend the context message on the Customer Orders form to populate all the attributes when the document is uploaded (via the Context toolbar)

Follow-up question on this topic ...

The 'ION Connection' and 'Publish to ION' options appear to be post-Doc creation activities. Are there any tools available pre-Doc creation? Post works for Docs we are just storing, but for those being printed by the ERP, we either need pre-creation access to XML or we need to go back and re-print once the attributes have been updated. Re-printing is less than optimal for things like Pick Lists.

For pre-doc creation, you would need to enable the Third Party option in AO, which will kick off a Sync.FileTransport document. It is a difficult document to read, and handle, but the merge with scripting option will help get to the JSON that is needed to submit the Document Output job.
