As a new learner, with the on-premise d/EPM installation how can one connect the DEPM APPS with the samples application as a demonstration of how it is set up? Thanks.

Hi,
to look "under the hood", you need to connect to Application Studio, and select the reports, and go to design view of the report.
Changes made on the reports are visible in the report preview or in case of used web extension on the report, then you preferably open the report in the browser, when you you open weblink you defined during the installation.
